We went for a festive afternoon tea today - delicious! A great selection of sandwiches and savoury treats, together with scones, cakes and pastries. Very filling and we brought some back in a take out box as we were so full. Lovely decor and efficient and friendly service too. Would definitely recommend and now want to go back for dinner!
Lovely quiet location with greenery. Amazing friendly and welcoming staff. Accommodated and took an extra step for a member of the group with autism. Will never consider another hotel in Southampton.
Enjoyed a three night stay here with family, including a 10 month old baby and two dogs. The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly, making all of us feel very welcome the whole trip. They were very welcoming to the dogs, especially our anxious pug, remembering their names and giving them treats!
Had the afternoon tea in the restaurant via a voucher (a birthday gift). Absolutely brilliant from start to finish…I mean really yummy! We were even given a doggy box to take home scone and cake as we were too full to eat any more. The icing on the cake (no pun intended) was the service, Alex and Louisa were so attentive, very efficient, lovely and friendly ( without being gushing) The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and spotless. All in all a great experience worthy of our review
I stopped by the hotel with Luigi (my border terrier) for a coffee as I made my way around the New Forest. The staff were so accommodating and really Dog-friendly. Luigi got treats and a bowl of water on arrival and my coffee was delicious. The hotel is really beautiful and peaceful, but in the perfect location.
Highlighly recommended!
It's looking a little tired now, but the food was very good (if a little expensive compared to the Waterloo Arms next door). The staff are super friendly and very accommodating. It's a great base for visiting Lyndhurst and Exbury gardens.
The room we were allocated was fine, albeit the walls between rooms and bathrooms are incredibly thin to the extent that we could hear everything that went on next door! However, that cannot be changed.
Unfortunately the breakfast experience left much to be desired. No tongs to put bread in the toaster so everybody had to use their hands, clearly not hygienic.
Orders were taken for cooked breakfasts, our order had to be chased up and when it arrived was not what we ordered. On the second morning the same thing happened.
When people had finished breakfast , their tables were not cleared, hence we were sat among tables with left-over food congealing on the plates.
When we booked out the man on reception asked how our stay had been. We told him that we thought the breakfast experience was not good, giving him examples as above. His response was to shake his head and say goodbye.
So, in essence, a lovely hotel, great situation but the staff require customer training.
We stayed for only two nights, but what a fabulous time we had here. Staff friendly and nothing was too much trouble, Conor in particular very chatty, professional and even remembered how to pronounce my name correctly! Breakfast excellent, …
